IPL/Laser Hair Removal
Studio Spa Beauty Salon in Retford is one of very few salons in the area to offer IPL hair removal.
We have many years’ experience, having trained and started this method of hair removal in 2006. Over the years we have had fantastic results, lots of happy clients and a 100% track record for safety.
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is highly effective in the reduction of hair anywhere on the body and face.
Light from the applicator is picked up by pigmentation in the hair, converts to heat and destroys the growing part of the hair follicle. With a number of sessions the hair becomes finer, weaker and the hair follicle loses its ability to grow hair.
How Many Sessions
Do I Need?
This varies from person to person. Typically 4/6
sessions will see a good reduction in hair.
How Often Do I
Need A Treatment?
Hair must be in the follicle to carry out a treatment,
so an interval of eight weeks is usual between
treatments though you can leave it longer if you wish.
What Do I Do
Between Treatments?
After the first treatment it can take up to 3 weeks
for the hair to fall out of the follicle. If you wish
to remove the hair it’s fine to simply shave the area.
Its best to avoid waxing, plucking, etc. as we will
need the hair in the follicle to carry out another
treatment.
Is It Painful?
There may be some slight discomfort but much less than
by electrolysis or waxing. Is It Suitable For
Everyone? The best results are achieved on dark,
course hair against a fair skin. The lighter the hair,
the more sessions will be needed. Grey and blonde hair
cannot be treated.
How Much Does
It Cost?
Price depends on the size of the area being treated.
Studio Spa offers courses of treatments which make it
a very reasonable method of hair removal for you.

Electrolysis
Electrolysis is another form of permanent hair reduction that Studio Spa in Retford offers.
With electrolysis a fine needle is inserted into the hair follicle to the hair root. A mild current is then passed down the needle to the tip which cauterises the hair root enabling it to be withdrawn. This only takes a few seconds.
Electrolysis can be performed on most parts of the face and body, however it is not suited to larger areas as only one hair can be treated at a time. The treatment is approved by the medical profession. Studio Spa always use sealed disposable needles for each treatment.
As with IPL, the hair being treated through electrolysis needs to be in its active growth stage in order to be effectively destroyed which means that several sessions are needed. Sessions usually take 15 minutes and courses of treatment are available at a discounted rate.
A pre-treatment consultation is required but Studio Spa provide this free of charge.
Waxing
Should you not require a permanent form of hair removal, you may wish to consider waxing.
